Publication Ethics
Maqasid Tarbiyah: Journal of Islamic Education and Human Flourishing is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics. Our editorial practices are guided by the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and informed by the ethical values of Islamic scholarship, particularly honesty (sidq), trustworthiness (amanah), justice (ʿadl), and accountability (masʾuliyyah).
1. Responsibilities of Authors
- Authors must ensure that submitted manuscripts are original, accurate, and free from fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, or duplicate publication.
- All sources used must be properly cited and acknowledged.
- Authorship must be limited to those who have made significant intellectual contributions to the research.
- Authors must disclose all funding sources, conflicts of interest, and any substantial use of artificial intelligence tools.
- If errors are discovered after publication, authors are obliged to notify the editorial office promptly to enable correction or retraction.
2. Responsibilities of Reviewers
- Reviewers must evaluate manuscripts objectively, fairly, and confidentially.
- Reviewers must declare any potential conflicts of interest and decline assignments when impartiality cannot be guaranteed.
- Reviews must be constructive, evidence-based, and respectful of the author’s intellectual contribution.
- Reviewers must not use unpublished material from the manuscript for personal advantage.
3. Responsibilities of Editors
- Editors are responsible for the integrity of the editorial process and make publication decisions based on the scholarly merit of the work.
- Editors must ensure that manuscripts are reviewed fairly and without discrimination based on the author’s gender, ethnicity, nationality, institutional affiliation, or religious orientation.
- Editors must protect the confidentiality of authors, reviewers, and submitted materials.
- Editors must address ethical concerns promptly and may issue corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions when necessary.
4. Misconduct and Sanctions
Allegations of research misconduct, including plagiarism, data fabrication, duplicate submission, ghost or guest authorship, and undisclosed conflicts of interest, will be investigated according to COPE guidelines. Confirmed cases may result in rejection of the manuscript, retraction of a published article, notification of the author’s institution, and a temporary or permanent ban from submission to the journal.
5. Corrections, Retractions, and Expressions of Concern
The journal reserves the right to issue corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern in accordance with COPE Retraction Guidelines whenever issues affecting the integrity of a published article are identified.
