Abstract

This study aims to explore the utilization of natural material media for introducing early literacy to Group A children at TK Aisyah Bustanul Athfal III, Tanjung Sampang. Employing a qualitative method with a descriptive approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data sources included school principals, teachers, and field observations conducted by the researchers. The analysis followed Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, comprising data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through prolonged engagement, persistent observation, triangulation, and referential adequacy. The findings reveal that natural materials are effective in facilitating early literacy development, enabling children to recognize letters (A–Z), shape letters, and identify phonetic sounds through tactile experiences. Furthermore, the use of these materials supports children's language acquisition and fine motor development. Key supporting factors include student motivation and the availability of natural resources, while the primary constraint lies in the varying intellectual development levels among children. This study highlights the potential of contextual and nature-based learning in enhancing early childhood literacy and suggests its broader application in early education settings.
